Introduction to Companion Animal Behaviour

Introduction to Companion Animal Behaviour

Introduction to Companion Animal Behaviour

5th January 2009

What's Covered?

Many people own pets, yet few owners understand much about why their pet behaves the way it does. This online course will provide you with information on animal behaviour, how the behaviour of companion animals is affected by the environment in which they are kept and how this can lead to the development of behavioural problems.

Species covered:

  • Dogs
  • Cats
  • Horses
  • Rabbits
  • Rodents (Guinea Pigs, Rats, Mice, Hamsters, Gerbils)
  • African grey parrots
  • Green iguanas

Is it for Me?

If you are interested in the behaviour of animals, then this course is for you!

Do you?

  • Work with animals (eg. in a veterinary practice, pet store, animal sanctuary, kennel or stable)?
  • Wish to learn more about animal behaviour?
  • Simply have a passion for pets?

Please note: This course does not constitute a qualification or license to practise as an animal behaviourist.

How Will I Learn?

The course allows you to participate in interactive online learning at a time and place that suits you. The course runs inside any standard web browser so no special technical knowledge is required - if you can browse the web you are ready to learn!

The richly illustrated online content also includes movies, library and web resources. You will be required to complete a range of online quizzes and activities as you progress. The support team will be on hand to help and guide you.

The induction will start on the 5th January 2009. The induction will take one week and the course takes approximately 15 weeks to complete. You will have access to the course for a further four weeks to allow you to revisit any of the materials or discussion topics you wish.
