Approach to Antibiotic Use in Skin Infection

6 July 2010

Evening seminar by guest lecturer Tim Nutall BSc BVSc (Bris) PhD CertVD CBiol MIBiol MRCVS

Seminar Overview

Antibiotics are vital tools in modern medicine and few products have had such an impact on human and animal health. Once regarded as a panacea, it soon became obvious that their use readily selects for resistance, and antibiotic resistance is now a major healthcare concern. It is therefore vital that antibiotics are used rationally and responsibly to minimise the development of resistance. This lecture will discuss the approach to treating pyoderma, including clinical diagnosis, cytology, culture, antibiotic selection, and the concept of first, second and third line drugs.

Venue: Upper Lecture Theatre, Easter Bush Veterinary Centre

The seminars take place at 7.30pm. Refreshments are provided from 6.45pm. The seminars will finish around 9.30pm.

Price: cost is £50 for a vet and £30 for a veterinary nurse - this includes seminar notes and refreshments.
