The CPD team consists of Rachel Whittington, Director of Extramural Veterinary Education, Antonia Doonan, CPD Administrator, and Beverley Montgomery, well known to many of you from her role as alumni coordinator. In addition we have just been joined by two online course developers, Andrew Cavers and Sharon Boyd, who will create innovative interactive and supported online programmes to bring our expertise closer to vets in practice.
Rachel joined the R(D)SVS in March 2007. Through her role, she aims to forge closer links between veterinary practice and the Vet School and places particular emphasis on ensuring that the School’s CPD provision is high quality, relevant, accessible and enjoyable. A graduate from the University of Bristol, Rachel has gained significant experience in the practising arm of the profession from both running her own practice and working as a veterinary business developer. As a result, she has a strong understanding of the pressures faced by vets working in, or running, a vet practice.
Antonia joined the University in September 2006 as the administrative support for both Extra Mural Studies and Continuing Professional Development. She supports the undergraduate students in their Extra Mural Studies and alongside Rachel hopes to continue to build strong relationships between the Vet School and veterinary practices. Antonia is on hand to provide information and support for practices and individuals who need further information about CPD on offer at the Dick Vet. She comes from a corporate background and brings with her a wealth of administrative experience and an award for excellent Customer Service.
Having gained Masters degrees in architecture and design and digital media at the University of Edinburgh, Andrew joined the R(D)SVS in January 2008. As well as helping create an engaging online learning experience, he uses his design skills to ensure the courses look great! Andrew has previously worked as an e-learning developer at Edinburgh’s Napier University and also has experience with other online commercial ventures.
Sharon joined the R(D)SVS in November 2007. Working as the e-moderator of the online CPD courses, Sharon will provide guidance, support and a cheerful online presence to help make your eCPD a satisfying and fun experience. Sharon is a zoology graduate of Trinity College Dublin, and has a Masters in Applied Environmental Science from University College Dublin. She gained experience developing online content as a scientific editor and working as an e-learning developer in further education. She is also a qualified stress management consultant and online tutor, and will use these skills to support you both in your online CPD course and through the CPD Community.
